Chris Albrecht is an industry leader in the modern-day business of pay television and global entertainment and the co-founder of Rubicon Global Media. Prior to Rubicon, Albrecht was managing director of Legendary Television, where he oversaw the studio that specializes in financing, developing, and producing quality genre and character driven projects and local language series for multiple platforms. Before Legendary, Albrecht served as president and chief executive officer of Starz, where he successfully reinvented the premium television network. Under his leadership, Starz was transformed into an original programming powerhouse with dynamic global businesses anchored by brand-defining original programming franchises. Albrecht introduced a state-of-the-art, direct-to-consumer STARZ app and aggressive OTT partnerships that leveraged the company’s original series and propelled growth in domestic subscribers. In addition, he led Starz through its spinoff from then-parent company Liberty Media into an independent public company and shepherded the company’s sale to Lionsgate. Prior to Starz, Albrecht was the president of IMG Global Media, heading the company’s diverse businesses. Albrecht is well known for his role as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of HBO, and President of HBO Original Programming. His tenure at HBO was noted for changing the television landscape by creating some of the most critically acclaimed series in history, including “Sex and the City,” and “The Sopranos,” along with dozens of other programs. As president of HBO independent productions, Albrecht guided the development and production of comedy series for distribution.
