JC Acosta was named President of Paramount’s Int’l Studios, Networks and Streaming for Southern Europe, Latin America, Middle East, & Africa in December 2021 and President of its Global Studios Division, VIS, in October 2020. As of Oct 2022, the 16-year veteran of Paramount completed his tenure at the company.
In his role as President of the Global Studios Division, VIS, Acosta oversaw the international operations for the production studios, which is a leading supplier of premium original content to Paramount+, while continuing to serve as a supplier of scripted, comedy, and reality series to Paramount’s free and pay-tv networks as well as third party streamers and broadcasters. During his tenure at VIS, he expanded the studio globally. Establishing operations in the UK, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Israel, Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina, producing more than 3,000 hours a year, with more than +60 Originals for Paramount +. In addition, he expanded the scale of the studio with key strategic M&A transcations like Fox Telecolombia / Telemexico and Porta Dos Fundos. Additionally, Acosta launched VIS Social Impact Studios – a studio division focused on accelerating social mission across content through action and accountability.

Acosta was also responsible for Paramount’s Networks and Streaming operations in Southern Europe, Latin America, Middle East, & Africa for Networks, Streaming, and Events. He was also charged with the ongoing expansion of the company’s portfolio and products in these regions, including the multiplatform business, content distribution and licensing efforts, and television channels. This includes free-to-air broadcasters Telefe and Chilevisión, as well as Nickelodeon, MTV, Comedy Central and Paramount Network, in addition to streaming services Paramount+ and Pluto TV, US Hispanic cable network Tr3s, and VidCon.
Acosta led the acquisition of Telefe in 2016 and Chilevision in 2021. Telefe leads as the number #1 broadcaster for almost 60 months in Argentina while Chilevision, after acquisition, quickly became the #1 broadcaster in Chile.

Acosta launched Pluto TV in March 2020 during the pandemic, quickly becoming the fastest growing Ad Supported Service in Latin America with more than 150 channels. Shortly, after in March 2021, JC launched Paramount + across all Latin America and in September 2022, Paramount + across Italy and France in December 2022. Creating the perfect streaming ecosystem of Free and Paid Streaming Services. In both cases exceeding subscribers and revenues versus plan.
Additionally, in 2022, Acosta launched the Paramount Sports Division with the historic acquisitions of Premier League in Mexico and Central America, Copa Libertadores in Brazil / Latin America, and La Roja in Chile to drive acquisition & subscribers to Paramount + / Pluto. Previously, Acosta was President, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Paramount in Latin America. He oversaw Paramount Latin America’s extensive portfolio of brands including MTV, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, and Paramount Channel in Latin America and Canada, Telefe in Argentina, Porta dos Fundos in Brazil, and Tr3s in the U.S. Hispanic market. Acosta was responsible for the original content strategy for Paramount in Latin America started back in 2008.

In his prior role, Acosta was SVP, CFO, and Executive-in-Charge of production, playing a key role in structuring multi-layered production deals and financials to include executing co- production agreements, negotiating distribution rights, integrating pro-social media partners, driving non-linear partnerships, and leveraging fiscal tax incentives. Acosta was instrumental
in establishing the company’s co-production model utilizing investments from non-linear partners, distributors, NGOs, and government ministries in key markets.
Prior to Paramount, Acosta was formerly Director of Finance for NBCUniversal Telemundo, where he was responsible for the financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance for Telemundo Studios and its corporate entities. He also previously held positions at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios and the Walt Disney Company.

A native of Miami, Acosta is a Certified Public Accountant for the State of Florida and holds a Bachelor of Accounting Degree and an MBA from Florida International University. In November 2022, he was awarded the EXECUTIVE OF THE YEAR AWARD by PRODU. In April 2022, he was highlighted by Variety in their MIAMI MOVERS AWARDS and most recently was named Advisory Board Member of CVENTINO (C21).
